Projection Prioritisation and Project Management
Background
The University of Otago Wellington, formerly known as the Wellington School of Medicine, reviewed their current and future ICT needs. The outcome of the review highlighted an opportunity to simplify the infrastructure that underpins the use of information technology within the Wellington Campus. The University formed a Project Steering Group to address some of the recommendations from the review.
Our Role
The University engaged X4 Consulting to guide the business and to establish a technology roadmap and project plan to increase efficiency and liaise between the Dunedin IT department and the Technical Team in Wellington.
The first phase focussed on:
Reviewing the work that had been done to date
Identifying the key elements that need to be addressed and
Categorising and prioritising these in order to plot a path to the desired future state.
The prioritisation session was organised as a workshop with the Project Steering Group in which the project briefs, developed by X4, were placed in order of priority on a roadmap. The project briefs were prioritised in a workshop with the Project Steering Group using a unique methodology developed by X4 Consulting.
The second phase consisted of
Executing the project and
Managing the change management activities that were identified and approved in the linear roadmap.
Benefits & Outcomes
The collaborative working model ensure the University was provisioned with an independent and experienced project manager that was able to scale up or down effort when required.
